who we are

A Brother-and-Sister Team

Phoenix Health Services is a healthcare company, which includes two skilled nursing facilities in Northeast Ohio: Windsong Nursing and Rehab in Akron and Sunrise Pointe Nursing and Rehab in Maple Heights.

Brother-and-sister team Bernard Schonfeld and Michelle Mikhli come from a long legacy of nursing-home owners and operators. Their predecessors laid a strong foundation of professionalism and passion for those in need.

Bernard Schonfeld, LNHA, CEO of Phoenix Health Services, had the opportunity to receive his AIT at one of the very facilities his grandfather established. Mr. Schonfeld is detailed-oriented, driven and has an innate love for working with families. He brings a fresh perspective to the industry, constantly keeping up to date with changes and upcoming technologies. Mr. Schonfeld has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management and has a keen sense of the important role technology now plays in healthcare.

Michelle Mikhli, MSW, LISW, LNHA, now COO of Phoenix Health Services, has over 15 years of industry experience. Her background includes marketing and social services. She greatly values building strong relationships with employees, residents and vendors. Mrs. Mikhli’s primary concern is patient care and advocating for both her residents and families, so that all their needs are met. Building a solid team of caregivers with professionalism and positivity is what establishes Mrs. Mikhli as a leader in this industry.

What we do

Rising to the occasion and caring for those in need

The leaders of Phoenix Health Services, Bernard and Michelle, truly embody the spirit of our organization by upping the ante for patient-centered care and providing a safe, comfortable setting for healing and growth.

Whether the patient’s goal is returning to their community post-rehabilitation or remaining in a facility for long-term care, Bernard and Michelle champion their team to provide an environment of warmth, attention and excellence in care. The siblings strongly believe that their daily presence in the sister facilities is what creates that true familial feeling in the residents, staff and management.
